Why We Ride: Ride2Boulevardia’s Commitment to Beating Cancer
Ride2Boulevardia: Riding to Beat Cancer on a Bike
On Saturday June 15, 2019, Artisan & Ride2Boulevardia set up a table to meet riders and volunteers, raffle prizes, and learn more about the stories behind the riders. While the sky was cloudy and the winds were high, the spirits of all of the riders was not deterred from their shared goal: beat cancer on a bike.
Ride2Boulevardia benefits both Cancer Action KC and Children’s Mercy Cancer Center. Cancer Action is a community-based non-profit, which offers programs and services that address the physical, social, emotional, financial, and spiritual needs of people with cancer, as well as their families and friends. Children’s Mercy provides comprehensive care to nearly 2,000 children with childhood cancers, sickle cell disease, hemophilia, and other blood disorders. Their commitment to clinical research and innovation has helped the Children’s Mercy Cancer Center earn recognition as one of the top cancer programs for children in the nation by U.S. News and World Report.
Why We Ride
Artisan wanted to find a unique way to give the riders and volunteers a platform to show why they ride, and why this event is so important to them. Each of the individuals that took the time to share their stories did so why writing their “why” on our whiteboards. Some rode for adventure. Some rode for fun. Many rode for their friends and family. And most importantly, to beat cancer.
